Hiii.. Welcome to MilkJellyEdit.

Little bit about me..

I used to blog a lot, back then when blogging was popular but as life got a bit busier, I updated less and eventually I stopped blogging altogether somehow.

I started being very invested in makeup back when I was in middle school. I experimented a lot with makeup products, and I think a big part of it was also because of the beauty gurus back then on YouTube. I bet everyone had their favorite beauty guru back in the day (mine was Tati Westbrook).

And if we are in the same age group, chances are we all had the same products like Urban Decay Naked Palette (I had Naked Palette 2) , Anastasia Beverly Hills Brown Pomade, Nars Orgasm (still loving the color until now), Benefit Hoola Bronzer, Kylie’s Lip Kit, Real Technique Makeup Brushes, Beauty Blender, and a lot more (iykyk).

Back then, I was just a teenager playing with makeup because, honestly, who doesn’t like playing with makeups?

I bought a lot of products from affordable products that were available in CVS, Rite Aid, and Walgreens such as NYX, LA Girl, Physician’s Formula; to the ones available in Sephora like Laura Mercier, Hourglass, Nars, and MAC. I even tried Dior and Chanel beauty (only got those when I went shopping with my mom lol).

I started gaining interest for skincare in 5th grade. I saw my grandma (from my dad’s side) and my mom doing their skincare and makeup routines since I was young, so in my head skincare and makeup is a normal daily thing every girl has do on a daily basis. I remember hanging out with my grandma, watching her putting her skincare routine followed by makeup afterwards. From young me observation, my grandma and my mom had very different skincare and makeup routine.

My grandma was more of a classic woman, focusing on her eye neck and decollete care. Her holy grail was the cold cream and this vintage looking powder. Her makeup was combination or several brands, but mostly Chanel.

My mom is the type who never leaves the house without makeup and her skincare routine is kind of insane. She taught me since I was a kid not to leave the house without sunscreen and to use skincare everyday. She even made her own rice mask because, quoting her, those mass produced masks were not as good. My mom, back then, was a big Estee Lauder (even until now), Olay, Decleor, and Shisheido. At one point she also liked SKII (that gave me crazy breakouts when she “forced” me to try). My mom’s makeup products were mostly from Kose, Shiseido (she’d big on her J-Beauty, eh?) and Estee Lauder.

Funny enough, but both mom and grandma never used Clinique. I remember asking my mom when Clinique got very popular, and apparently she tried but don’t like any of Clinique products. And then many many years later version of me still has never tried any Clinique products lol.

My grandma passed away when I was 14 and I still keep her last Chanel no.5 intact as a memento. She was a Chanel lady through and through. I never wear Chanel no. 5 because the smell reminds me so much of my grandma (even until now), so even when a random person wearing no.5 walked pass by me, my brain would think that was my grandma.

Those are a bit of background on what made me like skincare and makeup.

Fast forward into adulthood… Until 21, the only real job I did was my college internship, which was kind of fun.

When everyone knows which college they wanted to go to or which major they wanted to take, I did not have anything that I really liked. So I finished design school, got my BA and decided to not work until I could find something that I really really like.

I started my working experience because my mom told me my parents are not going to pay for any of my bills anymore, so I had to find a job.

And so I did.

After that, I changes job several times, none of them related to my degree or were related to the previous jobs.

The wildest thing is that people love how I do my job. I was always one of the youngest at the company but somehow could do good job; which baffles me as well, for someone who doesn’t like to work and never liked any of my jobs…

Until I started working at a beauty company.

This time, I liked the job but I hated how the company owner runs the business. That was my 5th job, and after that, I decided to not work for anyone anymore.

So here I am, still working in beauty industry but just doing different things and I won’t work for one specific brand.

I work as a consultant for companies (mostly beauty) to grow their business, help with business expansion, oversee certain market distribution, and build brands from scratch.

Good thing is, I can be picky with clients, too. Because I am the boss of me now (sort of). I would sometimes say no to clients after the initial meetings because I know they would just waste my time and their business wouldn’t go anywhere. You’d surprised on the amount of people who “owns business” but have no clue on what they’re doing.

I’ve been putting this project on the back of my list for a very long time now, but it is time to start. I want to share with everyone my thoughts and knowledge, feedback on certain products I tried or tested, show what’s actually trending in the market and debunk things that were misleading. In overall, sharing my passion for beauty!
